SAGINAW, MI -- Dozens of special interest cars or hot rods, many ranging in value from about $50,000 to $150,000 and dating back to the 1920s, stopped in Old Town Saginaw Thursday, Aug. They came to Saginaw from Detroit and will be headed back there for the Woodward Dream Cruise Tour.
"We have been in Detroit the entire week," said Jerry Dixey, Road Tour director for the ARP/Street Rodder Magazine's Road Tour presented by Chevrolet Performance.
Boasting a whopping 6 litre V8 engine, the car was just one of a number that petrolhead Bonzo owned in his collection of vehicles that included a Jensen Intercepter, a Rolls Royce sedan, a 1967 Corvette 427 and a 1954 Ford coupe, plus a distinctive Union Jack chopper, also seen in ' The Song Remains The Same'.
Led Zeppelin fans who want to acquire the vehicle that still displays its original name ‘Andy’s Instant T’ will have to have extremely deep pockets as it has a Classified Ad asking price of £250,000.
The eye-catching vehicles with license plates from Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee, Missouri, Texas, New York and elsewhere were parked in a lot off Hamilton Street, behind the Ippel building, in Old Town Saginaw while the car enthusiasts ate at Jake's Old City Grill, 100 S. "They had plans to have lunch somewhere else, in another community, but they chose Old Town Saginaw," said Paul Barrera, owner of Jake's Old City Grill, noting that the restaurant was closed to the general public during lunchtime Thursday to accommodate the crowd.
When asked what it means for Old Town to have the group stop there, he said: "(It means) we're recognized as a cool place to be." Learn more about the Road Tour here.
