To help find the right questions, we called on three not-yet-married friends who gave some time to thinking about the challenges faced by singles: Lore Ferguson, Paul Maxwell, and the recently engaged Marshall Segal. We ended up with these questions: The Bible commands Christians to marry “in the Lord,” that is, to marry other Christians (1 Corinthians ; 2 Corinthians ).

This isn’t only about DFTBA; it’s about any situation where adults work with or for or come in contact with teens in some capacity. I was a teen girl who loved male acoustic singers, and I was lucky enough to be able to go to a lot of concerts growing up.
I lived close enough to Chicago to make this a reality, and I’d earned enough trust to go, whether with an adult or by myself/with a group of friends.
As Tony Soprano would say, "fuggetaboutit." Write them off. However, if the relationship is wonderful - marriage ensues. Learn to use an iron instead of being seen in public resembling an unmade bed. This happens as the ovaries struggle to keep up with the needs of an aging woman's body.
You'll never make it with them because you don't have what they're looking for. It is amazing that even "mature" adults repeat the mistakes of the past. The number of people, men and women, who cite fundamental differences when assessing the reason for a failed marriage, has amazed me. The answer may be loneliness, and the inability to cope with it. They need someone to tell them what to wear, when to get a haircut, or buy new underwear. A man's appearance can make the statement that he respects himself. The symptoms of menopause can result from these changing hormone levels.
Nowhere, however, does it say that God picked out a spunky brunette whom he's waiting to spring on you at the right moment. When it comes to God, I'm pretty careful about saying what he does or doesn't do.
But I do know this—if you rely on this idea too much, your dating life will get really confusing.
Some of the most terrific interviews conducted were with men.
Then I did exhaustive research about women's health issues, how to make senses (touch, sight, smell, etc.) work for you, the best places to meet men (both geographically - where in the country are the most single mature men - and how to meet them in your own home town).
And so I think the church really serves and helps Christian singles consider marriage and consider dating.
Within the covenant community of faith, there should be those around a person that can speak of their reputation and whether they are serious about growing in the Lord and putting sin to death in their life. Is there seriousness in this person to grow in their relationship and understanding with the Lord?
In Saturday’s Links of Note roundup, I pulled together some of the posts making rounds regarding the sexual misconduct scandal within DFTBA records.
